AVENUES' COVID-19 RESPONSE

Dear Friends,

The health and safety of our youth and community is, as always, our top priority. Avenues is monitoring the news and resources on Coronavirus (COVID-19) vigilantly and has taken extra steps to prevent and prepare for COVID-19. We want to thank our community for your continued support and advise you to follow the MN Department of Health’s and the CDC’s recommendations.

We are grateful that youth at Avenues have a home during these troubling times. Pandemic or not, Avenues is here for youth experiencing homelessness. Young people in need of support should visit YSNMN.org or call Avenues at 612-522-1690.

To protect the health and safety of our youth, staff, and community, Avenues is taking the following actions:

  • Rescheduling all fundraising events, including our Building on Dreams breakfast. Building on Dreams will now be a breakfast in bed event hosted on Zoom. Register here.
  • Postponing all volunteer activities. If you have questions, please contact Marni Zimlin.
  • Asking that all in-kind donations be made online through our Amazon Wish List. We appreciate your support but are minimizing the amount of traffic going in and out of our youth spaces.
  • Virtually holding meetings. Staff that can work remotely are doing so.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

In good health,

Katherine Meerse, Executive Director

Support Youth During COVID-19

It takes a village to support young people, especially during this pandemic. We anticipate that our costs will increase by $6,000 per week. This puts a strain our budget, especially when our spring fundraisers have been canceled or postponed. Your donation to Avenues will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $45,000.

We're grateful that youth at Avenues have a place to call home during the stay at home order. You can support youth in our programs by purchasing an activity on our COVID-19 Amazon Wish List.
