On Friday May 19th, as a part of the international Rotary Day of Service, the Minnesota Pride Rotary Chapter (on the third LGBTQ+ Rotary Club in the country) surprised the staff at Avenues for Youth with a “a dinner and show” in appreciation of all the critical work being done with LGBTQI+ youth experiencing homelessness.
The Rotary Club swung by Avenues with lunches for the 10 members of staff (both Minneapolis and Brooklyn Avenues) and a surprise appearance by Ms. Pistachio Cream Pie, a local drag queen legend!
Cartwheels, skirt swirls, and laughter permeated through the house, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show and meal. It was a great example that sometimes the best way to support a local non-profit is simply by saying thank you and lifting up the frontline workers!
