Give to the Max Day

The holiday season can be a tough time for the young people staying Avenues. It is a season defined by being in a cozy home with family, sharing meals and giving gifts and affection. While we cannot replace or recreate this dynamic exactly for every young resident, but with your support we can make this season warm and wonderful in a meaningful way.

What we are most proud of at Avenues is the true feeling that we are so much more than just a “shelter,” while the youth are with us they are home. Avenues gives meaning to home through countless moments of connection created by our program staff that demonstrate acceptance and appreciation.

These moments, even just the small gestures, accumulate into a big impact and make the Avenues house a home. It is when Taylor, a Youth Support Specialist, came in at 6AM on her day off to decorate the door of a young man who thought no one would remember his birthday. It is Lareina, a Youth Advocacy and Engagement Specialist, who leads youth walking tours in North Minneapolis on her spare time. It is Karesia, the Manager of the Young Families Program, arranging a photo-shoot schedule so the Moms and their little ones could have photos Mother’s Day pictures.

These special moments are only possible because of your support. Click here to give today!

When you are supporting Avenues, you are not just helping to pay a heating bill or put food on the table, you are supporting Taylor, Lareina, Karesia and so many more. You are supporting real people doing real work that is making a real impact in the lives of some truly special young people.

How You Can Help:

November marks our Give to the Max Day challenge. This Minnesota’s giving holiday and Avenues’ single most important day of giving of the year. We’re relying on your generosity to keep our doors open 24/7, and ensure that youth have all the resources they need on their journey to stable housing and bigger life goals.

This year, we’ve set the ambitious goal to raise $100,000 by midnight on November 17th.  Starting Wednesday, November 1st, giving is matched dollar for dollar and your impact is doubled thanks to  generous Board members and critical community partners like Servant of Christ Church in Champlin.

This goal reflects not only the fast pace of inflation but also our increased capacity to partner with young people versus the last couple of years. One of the best ways to support Give to the Max is to host your own fundraiser.

Thank you for all the ways in which you support Avenues for Youth. We appreciate you and could not do this work without you. Together with your help, we are ending youth homelessness one young person at a time.
