September is dedicated to Avenues’ monthly donors like Siri and Kagan! Monthly donors provide a financial foundation that allows Avenues to plan during unpredictable times like now. They also give Avenues stability to stay open 24/7 to youth needing shelter, housing, or support. Monthly donors are so important to Avenues, that this month only Senator Scott Dibble and an anonymous donor are donating $125 to Avenues for every new monthly gift!

Meet Siri and Kagan
When did you start supporting Avenues, and what inspired your first gift?
My husband and I started supporting Avenues last summer. We, like many others, were inspired to start more actively supporting the needs of our community after the uprising following the murder of George Floyd. We had been noticing the increase in homelessness over the last few years and felt that supporting youth through Avenues would be one small way for us to help our community that has suffered so much.
Why is it important to you to invest in youth experiencing homelessness?
We see the youth of this community as our future and we choose to invest in our youth so they have the opportunity to shape, and lead, and be a vibrant part of that future.
Outside of monthly giving, how else do you invest in the community?
We actively support local businesses, volunteer at other youth focused non-profits like Dodge Nature Center, take part in community events, vote, and both have the opportunity to mentor and teach through our work.
What impact do you think you’re making/or hope to make on the community?
We hope that through our commitment to supporting our local community we are able to promote equitable access to resources and opportunities and create a space where all feel welcome, supported, and safe.
