In January students from the University of Minnesota Law School included Avenues for Youth in their “Raise the Bar” day of service. Over a dozen student volunteers came to Minneapolis Avenues for Youth to build welcome baskets for new youth coming into Avenues. These welcome baskets contain everything a young person will need from all basic hygiene items, towels, bedding, socks, hats, gloves, water bottle, ear plugs, headphones, journals, and more. They are critically important to making sure every youth that walks into Avenues immediately feels welcome.
The U of M Law Students also brought candy, gift bags, lip balm, and personal notes for every young person and created special Valentine’s Day gifts. We are so grateful to these future jurists, their professors, the key organizer (Job!), and everyone that made this day a success!
