During February and March, the Topline Financial Credit Union Community collected hundreds of diapers and baby wipes for the Young Families Program at Avenues for Youth. This collection will provide critical support for 15 families that include over 20 toddlers under the age of four.
Approximately 35% of youth experiencing homelessness actually have children of their own. The Young Families Program was started by Avenues in 2017 in response to the critical lack of shelter spaces for youth with kids. Avenues provides rent support and helps these families identify and move into housing the community of their choice, while also provide the wrap-around supports like educational and job coaching, basic hygiene needs, and mental, physical, and pediatric care.
